FCA Files Trademark for "Cuda" Name

FCA Files Trademark for “Cuda” Name

By | Chrysler Car News, FCA News | No Comments

FCA Files Trademark for “Cuda” Name! A few months ago we excitedly reported that Jeep is working on bringing back its beloved Jeep Wagoneer but according to new reports, FCA might have plans to bring back the Barracuda. The Plymouth Barracuda, originally built from 1964 to 1974, was a muscular two-door car and the original pony car, predating the Ford Mustang by a month. The Plymouth Barracuda, which was housed under the Chrysler brand, still enjoys a fairly fanatical following from American performance car enthusiasts.

Although Chrysler’s branding has changed over the years, many rumors suggest that FCA could introduce a new Barracuda branded as a Dodge, which is now known as the performance car division of FCA. The automaker already filed for rights to the Barracuda name in 2015, but they also recently filed a new application for the common abbreviation “Cuda,” sparking more rumors that a revamped Cuda is on the way. Some rumors believe the new Barracuda could essentially be a convertible version of the next-generation Dodge Challenger, which is expected around 2020.

Chrysler Pacifica Named Best Minivan in 2017 MotorWeek Drivers' Choice Awards

Chrysler Pacifica Named Best Minivan in 2017 MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Awards

By | Chrysler Car News | No Comments

Chrysler Pacifica Named Best Minivan in 2017 MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Awards! According to MotorWeek, “Each year we roll out the red carpet for our annual Drivers’ Choice Awards. These are the cars and trucks we would like to have parked in our driveway, or at least dream about owning if we won the lottery. We look at the factors mattering most to consumers – price, practicality, performance and fuel efficiency. Then our editorial staff selects the best models in a variety of lifestyle categories ranging from family sedan to luxury car, to large utilities and pickups. From that group, an overall best of the year is chosen. MotorWeek’s Drivers’ Choice Awards have been presented annually since 1983.”

The Chrysler Pacifica won in the Minivan Category with the editors sharing, “Rumors of the minivan’s demise have officially been put to rest as Chrysler, the inventor of the front-drive segment, does a full reboot with an all-new Pacifica; showcasing why minivans really are the family friendliest of all vehicles, and earning our Best Minivan Award along the way. Loads of cargo space for Dad, plenty of comfort and luxury features for Mom, up-to-date tech for the little ones; and features like Stow n’ Go seating that other manufactures have been unable to duplicate. What’s more, the 200-inspired face brings some style to the segment, and a soon-to-arrive Plug-in Hybrid version will ensure the minivan keeps driving into the future.”

The Chrysler Pacific Named A Must Test Drive

The Chrysler Pacific Named A Must Test Drive

By | Chrysler Car News | No Comments

The Chrysler Pacific Named A Must Test Drive! The Chrysler Pacific has enjoyed an outstanding year with awards, winning KBB’s Best Minivan Buy of 2017, Consumer Guide’s 2017 Family Vehicle Best Buy, The Most Fuel Efficient Minivan of All Time, Ward’s 10 Best Interiors, and more. Recently the Pacifica was honored with the “Must Test Drive” Award by Autotrader. In order to qualify for the award, each model on the list needed to cost under $75,000, be available to the general public to purchase, and offer an unexpected feature/benefit that would change the way you think of the car or brand in question.

Autotrader explains, “The brand-new Chrysler Pacifica is turning a lot of car-industry heads, if only because it improves so dramatically on its mediocre but top-selling predecessors — the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan. Starting from just under $30,000 with shipping, the Pacifica now goes head-to-head with the best, and according to Ben, actually manages to eek out the title of “best minivan on the market.” Brian called it an “excellent family car,” while Tara calls it “the first one that’ll really make you rethink your anti-minivan stance,” especially due to its car-like ride and impressive list of features and equipment. We also like its handsome styling and its prioritization of convenience above virtually all else. Perhaps the best praise of all comes from Dwight, however, who calls the Pacifica “a minivan that your kids will almost not be embarrassed to be seen in.” See the full list here

Chrysler Expanding Pacifica Line

By | Chrysler Car News | No Comments

Chrysler Expanding Pacifica Line! The Chrysler Pacifica has completely redirected the brand, winning multiple awards this year. Adding to the momentum, FCA announced that they will be adding a new Touring Plus model to the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica lineup. This new model will include new features like a power liftgate, three-zone automatic temperature control, premium fascia, projector headlamps, LED tail lamps, fog lamps, second- and third-row sunshades and universal garage door opener. Currently, the Pacifica is available as an LX, Touring, Touring Plus, Touring-L, Touring-L Plus, and Limited.

“The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica arrived in dealerships a year ago, and in that time, it has both resonated with our current minivan customers and brought new minivan buyers to the brand,” said Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Car Brands – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and Fiat, FCA – North America. “The addition of the new Touring Plus model to the Pacifica lineup builds on this success, delivering another option to meet the needs and price point of more customers.”

The model is available in showrooms now. For more Chrysler news, Follow Wilde Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram on Twitter or Like us on Facebook.

The Chrysler Pacifica is a "Best Family Car of 2017"

The Chrysler Pacifica is a “Best Family Car of 2017”

By | Chrysler Car News | No Comments

The Chrysler Pacifica is a “Best Family Car of 2017.” Recently KBB put together its annual list of “Best Family Cars of 2017.” This year, the experts realized that the only true family capable cars are SUVs and compiled it’s list without including any sedans: “As SUVs have grown more comfortable and more efficient over the years, families and car shoppers in general have demonstrated an increasing preference for the elevated driving position, superior cargo versatility and higher profile of SUVs. Each of our 12 Best Family Cars of 2017 offers a unique but similarly compelling combination of safety, value, versatility, amenities, comfort and drivability. Whether it’s the sliding doors and cavernous interior of a minivan or the high-riding nature and available all-wheel drive of an SUV, each of these vehicles is simply more functional as a family car than a traditional sedan.”

The cars were divided into three categories: Two-Row SUV, Three-Row SUV, and Minivan. The winners were determined by safety, value, reputation, driving manners, technology, child seats, cargo versatility, comfort, and convenience. Kelley Blue Book explains their testing procedures, “We compiled a list of last year’s winners and the best of the new and redesigned 2017 models and brought them all together for a back-to-back testing regimen. Ten editors spent two weeks driving, poking, prodding and researching all these vehicles. Our group includes several parents claiming a total of eleven children spanning a full range of ages including an adorable toddler, elementary, middle, high school and college students, and even a couple who’ve made it out into the real world. We put family cars under a group microscope once a year, but we live them every day.”

It seems every time we turn around the Chrysler Pacifica is winning a new award including: KBB’s Best Minivan Buy of 2017, Consumer Guide’s 2017 Family Vehicle Best Buy, The Most Fuel Efficient Minivan of All Time, Ward’s 10 Best Interiors, and more, but now we are excited to share what the KBB experts wrote about the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, “If there’s one vehicle that can do it all, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica can make a case for being it. While the Pacifica’s forebear, the Town & Country, can be credited with creating the minivan genre, Chrysler’s mainstay had been both a leader and a follower in the category — sliding more recently into follower status with its dated styling and lack of innovation. The all-new Pacifica changes all that.”

2017 Chrysler Pacifica Named in 2017 Best Cars for the Money

By | Chrysler Car News | No Comments

2017 Chrysler Pacifica Named in 2017 Best Cars for the Money! It has been a huge year for the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. It seems every time we turn around it’s winning a new award including: KBB’s Best Minivan Buy of 2017, Consumer Guide’s 2017 Family Vehicle Best Buy, The Most Fuel Efficient Minivan of All Time, Ward’s 10 Best Interiors, and more! Adding to the list, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica was recently named the 2017 North American Utility of the Year by a panel of 50 plus Canadian and American automotive journalists, but now the 2017 has been named in the 2017 Best Cars for the money.

The U.S. News Best Car for the Money award aims to highlight vehicles that give you an outstanding ownership experience for a great value, with each winner having the best combination of quality and value in their respective classes. The awards are determined by data used from car rankings, which uses data collected and analyzed from every credible and published review of the model combined with hard safety and reliability data. To measure value, TrueCar was brought in to find average vehicle costs and Vincentric helped give information on total cost of ownership, which includes cost of gas, insurance, and repairs over 5 years.

The editors write about the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, “The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica ranks 2 out of 7 Minivans. Once an SUV, now a top-rated minivan, the Chrysler Pacifica is spacious, quiet, gets good gas mileage, and is pleasant to drive. It’s one of the best options in the class.”

First Look- The Driverless Chrysler Pacifica

First Look- The Driverless Chrysler Pacifica

By | Chrysler Car News | No Comments

First Look- The Driverless Chrysler Pacifica! We reported a few months back that Google was working with FCA to create driverless Chrysler Pacificas, utilizing a total of 100 models to work with. John Krafcik, head of Google’s car project reiterated the importance of this non-exclusive deal saying,“This is all in service of a key point, which is that it will more than double our fleet of cars and that means more testing miles and more opportunities for people to become familiar with their real-world capabilities. We’re excited FCA will be the first we integrate with, we will be working with many different partners going forward.”

Spy shots of the vehicles were spotted a few months ago in a parking garage, but now we are finally getting to see the first official look at the models. TechCrunch reports that engineering teams from both Waymo and FCA worked in close partnership at an engineering site in Michigan, as well as in Arizona and California and explains, “While the Chrysler Pacificas used are based on the 2017 production model that consumers can buy, changes were made to the vehicles’ electrical, powertrain and structural systems, as well as to the vehicle chassis itself, in order to make them better suited for using Waymo’s tech. This results in a much tighter integration than if the Alphabet company had just purchased Chrysler vehicles off the line and done their own aftermarket modifications on stock vehicles. Still, from project outset to these being ready to enter service took only six months, according to FCA.”

The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Awarded Ward's 10 Best Engine Award

The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Awarded Ward’s 10 Best Engine Award

By | Chrysler Car News | No Comments

The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Awarded Ward’s 10 Best Engine Award! Recently the editors at WardsAuto evaluated 40 vehicles driving to and from work, school, the hardware store, and on weekend roadtrips. For vehicles to be eligible, they must not have a sticker price higher than $62,000. The editors awarded the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica as one of the best engines writing, “Our judges awarded the Pacifica Hybrid high marks for the vehicle’s seamless drive quality as well as its technological advancement as the first mass-market electrified minivan in North America.

The editors at Wards share, “Unique to the Pacifica Hybrid, and critical to its smooth and efficient operation, is the eFlite transmission developed in-house by FCA engineers. The transmission incorporates the dual electric motors, a planetary gearset and a one-way clutch to gain the most efficiency and power from the engine and both electric motors. FCA powertrain engineers did all the hard work to make their PHEV minivan simple and convenient. One example: If charged regularly, the Pacifica Hybrid can handle all the daily school drop-offs, grocery store trips and other around-town errands without burning a single drop of fuel – meaning busy parents can cross routine gas-station stops off their to-do lists.”

“The eFlite transmission shifts between pure electric mode and a combination of electric and gasoline engine propulsion without a hiccup,” says Drew Winter, senior content director at WardsAuto.
